About Tom

Tom A. Peter is a journalist based in Kabul, Afghanistan. He is a correspondent for The Christian Science Monitor and his work has appeared in USA Today, GlobalPost, The Chronicle of Higher Education, CosmoGirl, and other periodicals. Tom has also provided on-the-ground news analysis for National Public Radio, CBS News Radio, and WERS Radio.

Specializing in Afghanistan, the Middle East, conflict, and military issues, Tom has reported from Iraq, Afghanistan, the West Bank, Kuwait, Jordan, and throughout the United States.

Tom grew up in southern California and graduated from Northwestern University where he majored in Middle Eastern Studies and minored in creative writing. He has traveled extensively in the Middle East and Afghanistan and enjoys making his home there.
